Friends commentary on SOC Timeline (Jan 1 2026 reversion to Exxon)

The time line is a blessing in disguise becuase it builds a takings claim against agencies that have put unlawful roadblocks in SOCs way. Not only that it’s not as easy it sounds for Exxon to just find a new buyer especially since soc has made it this. California knows all the tricks in the book to stop the next buyer. That being said in the contract it is not a straight transfer of everything back to Exxon. Why would Exxon want to keep up with maintenance cap ex and not receive and take back paper? Day one this was a coin flip, but where we stand today I don’t know how this doesn’t cross the finish line. CCC is shitting themselves and SB county staff and Federal is in favor of Sable.
