👁️🗨️👁️ Google’s Eye-Catching Acquisition 👓🎯
This is likely one of many steps taken in order to horizontally expand into the growing wearable smart glasses market. Excitement for their technology was circulating long before this as well back in 2017 after their Series A from Intel Capital (a subsidiary of Intel Corporation), giving this Canadian company, AdHawk Microsystems, time to prove themselves valuable enough for Google’s prospective future hardware.
Remember Google Glass?
I’d bet we see something better soon enough. If not with holographic screens, then with powerful visual identification capabilities similar to the Google Lens feature in the base Google phone app. Google is a leader in camera-based identification and translation and more is likely to come from this!
Don’t get me started on the user-attention-based advertising metrics to be had from collecting this eye-tracking data! Google AdSense physically everywhere!
