Webtoon Entertainment explodes 50% over Disney deal

Webtoon stock jumped 50% this week after smashing earnings expectations and announcing a blockbuster deal with Disney.

That means Luke Skywalker, Spider-Man, The Avengers — basically, some of the most valuable IP on Earth — are coming to Webtoon’s online comic platform.

For context, Webtoon already has 155 million monthly active users and a solid lineup including Archie and DC Comics. This Disney partnership takes it to another level — Marvel + Star Wars is a serious content moat.

The numbers? They flipped the script on Wall Street:

• Revenue: $348.3M vs. $340.6M expected (+8.5% YoY)

This is a surprise profit for a company that IPO’d in June 2024 and has been battered since — down 55% from the IPO price as of yesterday’s close. Today’s move is a sharp reversal.
