Anthropics new economic report on AI

Anthropic’s Economic Index has a really nice “AI usage map” for the US. What surprised me: usage is heavily clustered in a few places, but the spread looks like it’s diffusing outward pretty fast. It’s one of the clearest snapshots I’ve seen of where AI is actually being used, not just talked about. My insight from reading it is this: ignore the narratives and follow incentives and constraints. Where people have clear ROI, repeatable workflows, and fewer switching costs, adoption concentrates first and fast. Then it spills over as tools get cheaper, easier, and socially normal and spread. It’s not only the US—there are dashboards for other countries too, so you can compare diffusion patterns across regions!
