Honeywell International Inc
How do they make money?
Honeywell is the second largest publicly traded company in North Carolina, trailing only Bank of America (Honeywell is worth $150 billion while Bank of America is worth $356 billion).
I've vaguely heard of them but was unsure how they made money, so I wanted to check them out.
Their annual report starts off with a hilariously broad and vague statement:
"Honeywell...is an integrated operating company serving a broad range of industries and geographies around the world. Our products and solutions enable a safer, more comfortable, and more productive world, enhancing the quality of life of people around the globe."
Diving deeper, the company generates most of its revenue through four segments:
Aerospace Technologies: The company is a leading supplier of "products, software, and services for aircraft."
Industrial Automation: Honeywell is a leader in "industrial automation solutions," particularly in the oil refinery, utilities, life sciences, and warehouse/logistics sectors.
Building Automation: This segment includes sensors, switches, control systems, video surveillance, fire control systems, and other tools for building owners.
Energy and Sustainability Solutions: The company provides sustainable aviation fuels, petrochemicals, refining, and natural gas liquefication solutions, among others .
Ultimately, Honeywell is a conglomerate working with everyone from airlines and refineries to the US government and US military.
