ALSO Inc. Brings Their First E-bike to Market!
FYI: ALSO Inc. was previously an internal project at Rivian, before they’d decided to spin it off into its own startup business! Rivian likely owns somewhere between 15-30% of this business (approximated from funding rounds and their original invested sum).
I’d already made a post about Rivian’s sister company; but I didn’t expect them to get to this point already! It seems like a very solid, premium offering they’ve got here. A really high-tech bike for a really high-tech world.
I think what’s most compelling from an investment standpoint, is that they have vertically-integrated product lines. Just as the likes of Apple, Rivian, and Tesla do, their many accessories attempt to give users the perfect walled-garden, so that they might spend more within their ecosystem.
This also has the bonus side-effect of strengthening their brand representation, as they control more of the aesthetics as well via these accessories, such as the Bluetooth-enabled brake-light-equipped helmet they plan to sell, as well as various colors in extra (proprietary) battery packs and hot-swappable seat configurations.
Something else that’s pretty irreplaceable is the digital user-interface they appear to be bringing from their employees at Rivian. The bike can automatically adjust the difficulty of your ride based on your workout targets you enter into its app (like a Peloton that takes you places). Additionally, you can save different ride settings for each seat-type, letting you fine-tune each for your own personal utility; from ride-share, to delivery, to solo-riding from city to trail.
Needless to say, I’m pretty impressed (though not surprised) what they delivered!
All-in-all, high-end bikes being the spiritual equivalent to a samurai & his sword, or a knight & his horse; to the Silicon Valley hipster (no offense), I believe these will sell reasonably well to the reasonably wealthy.

As one more crazy bonus, they unveiled two other pedal-based light-vehicles. Shown in the review video by InsideEVs above, and in the image below:
