WSJ Exclusive: Electronic Arts Nears Roughly $50 Billion Deal to Go Private

This would be the largest leveraged buyout of all time.

A group of investors including private-equity firm Silver Lake and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund could unveil a deal for the publisher best known for its sports games as soon as next week, the people said.

The California-based company has a market value of around $43 billion. Discussions on price are still underway but EA could be valued at as much as $50 billion, two of the people said.

Massive leveraged buyouts all but disappeared after a number of them performed poorly in the wake of the 2008-09 financial crisis.

Buffett does do "special situations" with M&A. I want to do analysis later on whether or not this constitutes a special situation. Would love other Flanker's thoughts.
