Stated in the Annual Report from 2025: "We believe we have significant room for growth in the retail and food service channels, and we believe that we can capture this opportunity by growing brand awareness and through new product innovation. We also believe there are incremental growth opportunities in additional distribution channels, including the convenience, drugstore and club channels."
Anecdote: I am telling this story inspired by David's sharing of the Peter Lynch pantyhose story.
Some backstory. My mom's boyfriend is a notoriously picky eater. He comes from a small rural town, where poverty and ignorance is plentiful. He has managed to escape his family and their situation in many ways, but in many other he still carries the scars of his past. Many of those being in his limited mindset of the world. He only eats the same bland meals he grew up on, and all the junk food typically found in a poor American household. Well by virtue of chance, a carton of Vital Farms eggs was left at his and my mother's house. Unbeknownst to me or my mom, he tried them. Not knowing this my mom offered them to me as she knows I like these eggs and am a conscious consumer when it comes to my health. When I was over for family dinner I started packing things to take home, as moms always make sure you never leave empty stomached or handed. I went to put the Vital Farms eggs in my bag and was stopped by a simple question: "What are you doing with my eggs?" With a look of confusion I glanced over to see an arms folded scold at the action of me packing the eggs. "I don't like eggs typically, but i like these ones." He said. More than happy to renounce the egg rights bestowed by my mother, I returned them to the fridge. Here is a man who doesn't eat FRUIT! because he never did as a child. Yet he was won over by the quality of the Vital Farm eggs so much that he was not willing to see the remainder of the free and accidental eggs leave so easily. If that is not a powerful anecdotal testament of brand power I don't know what is.
